TRIP TO QUTB MINAR, NEW DELHI
Another
location that I visit with fellow studio mate is Qutb Minar, New Delhi. Since
we visit India during Diwali’s holiday, there are lot both local and tourist
coming here especially local school kids. In Qutb Minar got several ruin
architecture structure and monument in one place. All of these ruin are not
build at the same time. If you are look closely you might find a different base
on color on the stone aging and the transcript craft at the stone wall and
pillars.
Here a little
bit background of Qutb MInar. Qutb Minar is the tallest brick minaret structure
in the world. The foundation of this world famous tower was laid by Qutbuddin
Aibak of Mamluk dynasty toward the end of the 12 century. The construction was
interrupted at the first storey by his death & the remaining 3 storey were
completed in matching material & style by his successor Lilututmish
commonly known as Altamash in A.D 1230. In A.D 1368 the Minar was damaged by
lightning. Later Firus shah Tughlug replaced the top storey by the existing 2
storeys faced with marble. Sikandar Lodi also executed some repairs to the
Minar in A.D 1503 when it was again injured by lightning. Base and of about
2.75m at the top with a height of 72.5m and ascended by 379 steps, it is the
highest stone tower in India and a perfect example of Minar known to exist
anywhere. The variegated plan of its three lower storeys the projecting
balconies with stalactite pendentive brackets and ornate band of inscription on
its facade heighten its decorative effect.

Since I’m not expert about the
history about old India Empire especially Qutb Minar’s place and history, so
I’m not going to explain in detail in this experience sharing moment. But if
you interested to have some knowledge before coming here, I was introduce by to
read two books that is ‘travel guide - Delhi, Jaipur and Agra’ and ‘The Holly
Cow’ by Tarun Chopra. There are actually 2 ‘The Holly Cow’one from David
Duchovny and one from Tarun Chopra, but personally I prefer to have written by
Tarun Chopra. (Actually I prefer book with more picture in it)
Unfortunely, i cannot enter inside the minaret because it's
happen before group of school kids fall in group while step at minaret stairs.
And government give no permission to enter
Here we will see fascinating
architecture detail in craft in every wall and pillar. In this picture, where I
stay still, not all pillars are supporting the roof ceiling. Some of the
pillars are untouched from the ground. You may test to slide paper through the
bottom of the pillar. There are some gap
that let paper passing through at the bottom of the pillar.
In here the surrounding is quite
romantic by feeling, with falling leave, red brick, beautiful carving stone,
fascinating architecture and today its will be good spot for selfie addict.
Hehehe… And here is not a very good story when we come here, we have different
tourist guild. At this location our tourist guild buys as the cheapest entrance
ticket entrance ticket for schools kids more precisely, even though there are
no children in our trip. How he got that? Obviously by dealing with ticket
seller and divided among them. Even this is called cheating, to be honest I
think they are smart. Ha… smart ha…
